A survival pattern means that you are living with stress


If you're stuck in a survival pattern, everything is a struggle - from paying your bills to getting to work on time. You usually appear to be just one step ahead of disaster. Somehow, however, you usually get by - but without a penny or a second to spare. Whenever you live this kind of life, you are fueled by adrenaline. You use stress to get things done. Some individuals are even addicted to stress. After all, it is a rush. Usually, it makes you really feel very important - for just a little while. For some people, it even speeds up their metabolisms.

You are in a survival pattern when stress has turn out to be normal to you. In fact, whenever you step back and observe your behavior, you will find that you really seek out more stressful experiences. You are late to the meeting - again. You tend to procrastinate and use imminent deadlines to get you motivated. You may even close to the limits on your credit cards and be constantly wondering whether your card will be declined. You reside correct on the edge - all of the time. You need the rush. Individuals caught up in survival patterns occasionally refer to themselves as "tornadoes" and the like - they're whirling masses of energy.

Even though living with constant stress is common in today's world, this is not a method to live a sensational century. You might not even make it to 60 or 70. Eventually the roller coaster catches up to you and also the chronic stress has a myriad of negative consequences. For one thing, it can ultimately cause you to "crash." It is poor for your looks. And longevity specialists have now shown that this chronic stress can shorten your life and precipitate obesity.

People caught up in survival patterns are usually well intentioned but shortsighted. They struggle to prioritize and determine what really matters. Every ounce of power is spent simply trying to steer clear of disaster. For instance, when a person's physical or financial well being is out of balance, it dominates the expenditure of time and money. Priorities like buying a spouse a gift, traveling to determine family, or planning a vacation take a back seat.

The great news is that if you are currently in a survival pattern, your commitment to healing will positively influence every region of your life. To escape a survival pattern, you must stop and realize what you are doing. Catch yourself in the middle, become aware, and make an energy-enhancing choice. You have to learn to take time-outs and view the larger picture, develop your reserves, and break the cycle. In some cases, you have to reset your internal barometer and establish a brand new human potential pattern.

If a stressful job or relationship has moved you into this pattern, you have to determine if it's worth it. Living a life in continuous disarray is not a way to thrive or grow. Once you've eliminated the stressor, you can change your thinking. Strategy long-term, set boundaries, and steer clear of continuously putting yourself into situations that will cause you more tension.

Focus on building back your reserves and quit the crisis motivation. To escape a survival pattern, you need to take control of your life by making various choices that assistance the vision of your ideal 100-Year Way of life. Make your future so compelling that you are willing, with each option in the present, to shift gears midstream.
