Antioxidants and what to know about them


Thinking about antioxidants? Here is all we have ever learn about them in the media: "Gotta get more antioxidants!" Yes, you need to do. This is actually the simple explanation of what anti-oxidants are: They're micro-nutrients that neutralize toxins. Many of the micro-nutrients are anti-oxidants. Normal processes in the body produce toxins like a by-product. They're completely natural.

Also, toxins bombard our system externally sources including chemicals in the air, water, our food, trans-fatty acids from frying food, and many more. If you remember junior high school science, atoms contain a proton and neutron core by having an electron cloud surrounding it. Toxins are unstable atomic structures that can literally rip our cells apart.

Anti-oxidants are just like the antidote to those poisons. They donate an electron towards the unstable toxins and neutralize them. The unhealthier what we eat is, the more compromised our lifestyle, the more toxin damage we impart upon our fragile bodies. This can lead to getting sick, low energy, premature physical aging, developing diseases and cancers.

You might run into the word ORAC which means Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. You've got a couple of different companies claiming there is a concoction of various juices and extracts that will neutralize toxins to some higher and better degree. They are doing...in an evaluation tube. While I will say with full confidence that these "miracle juices" aren't unhealthy for you personally, their claims could be overblown.

In an evaluation tube they might be in a position to neutralize an amazing quantity of toxins in a controlled environment. With regards to real life and your body though, it's very difficult to tell their effectiveness. Personally, i think a better idea would be to put your money into raw fruits, vegetables and nonpharmaceuticalized super foods.

I only say all that to express this: there's so much we don't learn about micro-nutrients since they're so small , there are plenty of of these. If we're referring to a potential 20,000 different phytochemicals in food, 1/2 of which we haven't even discovered it's impossible we all know without a doubt how much one single lab-formulated product is going to do for all of us.

Anti-oxidants are anything that neutralizes a totally free radical, so that they include all what we should are referring to, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. It's a normal term, not one that describes a particular food or specific vitamins.
