To start your iPad big game hunt, go the App Store. Tap any game icon to determine its Store page, which teaches you system requirements, age ratings, sample screen shots, and reviews. When you check out a game, make sure it's designed for the iPad and not simply for the iPhone and ipod itouch - unless you liked those times of pixelated graphics. Many iPad games come with an HD tag on them or title themselves appropriately: PAC-MAN for iPad.
You can buy and download games in iTunes and then sync them to the iPad, or you can get them directly on the 'Pad itself. To find games in the App Store:
Tap Categories, then Games and search the collection of sample screens that flow over the In the Spotlight area until you see one that's visually appealing. Tap it to understand more. Tap through the New & Noteworthy titles to determine what's recently arrived.
Tap the very best Charts button at the end of the screen. Tap the Categories button in the menu bar and choose Games to determine the bestselling titles - and many popular free games. Tap the Search box in the upper-right corner and type in keywords for any specific type of game or game title. When you find a game that piques your interest, buying it just takes a couple taps on the price button.
Once you download your game, it appears on your iPad's Home screen, as with every other app. Tap it open as you prepare to play. Don't know how to play?
Look for a "How to Play" or "Info" or "Rules" button somewhere on the opening screen. Some games actually have a link right on the first screen to take you to a YouTube demo video or trailer explaining the game's backstory.
You don't have an Xbox or PlayStation-style game controller using the iPad, and it certainly doesn't have one of those motion-sensitive magic wands that include the Nintendo Wii.
But with its accelerometer, sensitive touch moves, and high-resolution screen to show off more realistic graphics, the iPad offers developers several different ways to build in gameplay controls. In some driving games, like Real Racing HD, you hold the iPad like a steering wheel as you zoom around a course - just be careful not to drop it midrace.
Other games are simply as creative. Since it's name suggests, Flick Fishing HD lets you cast a virtual line to the water with the flick of your wrist. Old-school joystick games like PAC-MAN put an online version of the familiar red-handled knob in the corner from the screen, but you can lead the munching yellow disc with your finger as well.
Flight Control HD functions by letting you guide an increasing number of incoming planes to their landing zones a with finger drag along the runway.
