Google your lost friends to relax after a hard day

Go Google

For many years, mine was only a very small family consisting of my mother and my two sons. So it was a delightful bonus when I married Doug to find that he was part of a fine, big family of interesting, affectionate and energetic people. The only hitch was, they didn’t live in the same city as we did. Solution? Email.

Email messages are simple, inexpensive and lots of fun. It takes only minutes to prepare quick updates about what’s been happening – it can be in point form, if you like – and, if you’ve got a digital camera, you can attach a couple of recent happy snaps. You could even set up your own website and post photos, jokes and news.

Track down friends

The Internet is also a way of tracking down old friends and family members. Perhaps there was a falling out or one of you just moved away. Whatever the reason why you lost touch in the first place, catching up can be a delightful surprise.

The only way to have friends is to be one. Invest in the quality of your relationships and show others that you care by creating a cyberworld where you can stay in touch. Reconnecting helps heal old wounds, expands your vision and gives you a fresh perspective on your life. Sharing stories of life’s experiences with an old friend is a measuring stick, and helps you to acknowledge what you’ve achieved, and how far you’ve come since you last saw each other.

Free your mind

You may find that, quite suddenly, you are able to let go of a grudge you’ve had for twenty years. And even if the reunion isn’t one you want to pursue, it may be a reality check – perhaps the lesson is to let that person go and free up those thoughts and emotions so you can invest them in other relationships.

A friend is a present you give yourself. So go Google an old friend, and see where the experience leads you.
