Make better personal lifestyle choices and age in a healthy way

When was the final time you looked through your family photo albums? Take them out and take a look at your mother and father when they were your age. Take a look at their parents once they were younger, too. Now think about how they aged. Take a look at their skin and their posture. How severely did their activity decline as they aged? Did they become crippled by preventable health problems such as arthritis, osteoporosis, or heart disease?

The number of individuals who are affected by these and many other preventable well being conditions is staggering. Twenty million people are affected by osteoarthritis in the United States. Nearly 20 percent of adults older than 65 are obese and another 40 percent are overweight, putting them at substantially increased threat for diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, along with other illnesses.

Numerous health conditions that we take for granted in this nation aren't a normal component of aging elsewhere. They're largely brought on by way of life - by our choices. Even universal passages like menopause are simply not exactly the same throughout the world. Japanese ladies who consume soy as a normal component of their every day diets expertise far fewer hot flashes.

The answer, however, is not to run out and buy soy supplements to treat menopause like a disease. In reality, the usefulness of soy in that type is now a topic for debate. We are talking about your personal lifestyle choices and how they influence you. So, now it is time to take a good take a look at you. Scan your own reflection in the mirror.

How are your skin, bones, and waistline? In what kind of shape are your heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys? Is your spine aligned and is your nervous system functioning to its full potential? If you continue on your current path, will you like the way you age? Can you imagine your photograph in twenty, thirty, or forty years? Embracing The 100-Year Way of life will ensure that you blossom over the remaining decades that lie ahead of you.

What did your parents and grandparents know about their own aging possible? When today's centenarians had been born, they were only given a life expectancy of 50 years. They were blindsided by their longevity. During their lifetimes, their life expectancies doubled without warning. They had no vision and no technique for their extended lives. What a surprise it should be for them to find themselves still living.

None of them ever thought they could reside to 100, but their bodies did it regardless of what they believed. No wonder numerous of them sit about as grumpy old individuals. How do you really feel whenever you are a week or a month late on a project? Doesn't this cause you to be angry or frustrated? Can you imagine if you were 30, 40, or 50 years late for your funeral?

This generation that Tom Brokaw called "the Greatest Generation" has lived via World War I and World War II, developed the automobile and airplane, sent humans towards the moon, and managed to outlive their predicted life span by five decades! They have watched in disbelief as technologies moved center stage - with the advent of the radio, then television, computers, and also the Internet. Just as technology has advanced, so has the length of their lives. They've reached record longevity. This in spite of what they thought they knew to be true.

Your grandparents and parents weren't taught that their bodies were designed to reside 100 years or more. They weren't taught how you can prepare for their longevity. Numerous of them did not cultivate physical or financial stability to ensure 100 or more quality years. This "Greatest Generation" is now giving you your greatest gift. They are giving you a preview of what awaits you as a result of your capability to reside longer and wiser than any generation before you.
