Casinos and casino hotels feature a variety of nightclubs for their customers. Nightclub Managers are in charge of managing the operation of the club. They handle the day-to-day running of the establishment. Individuals have varied responsibilities within the scope of the job, depending on the type of establishment, its size, and structure. Nightclub Managers with experience can advance to similar jobs in larger, more prestigious facilities. This results in increased earnings and responsibilities. Nightclub Managers may climb the career ladder by starting at a smaller hotel nightclub, obtain experience, and then be promoted to the Manager of a large showroom. Some Nightclub Managers strike out in their own and open up their own clubs.
There is no formal educational requirement for Nightclub Managers. Some facilities prefer or require training in food service or the hospitality industry. Others require that Managers participate in either formal or informal on-the-job training programs.
Depending on the specific state, the person may be required to meet minumum age requirements as well as hold a valid TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) card and a valid health card from the local public health department.
Experience requirements vary for Nightclub Managers. Some facilities prefer that a candidate have previously worked as an assistant manager in a club. Others may accept experience in various facets of business or the entertainment industry. Experience working in casino hotels in any capacity is helpful. Individuals should have basic knowledge of the food and beverage and entertainment and/or music business. They should be cognizant of drawing up contracts, negotiating, and booking talent.
