Seemingly insignificant decisions can affect your life

There are a lot of methods that we kill ourselves both quickly and slowly, every day, taking years off our lives and life out of our years. We do this through the little and seemingly insignificant decisions that we make that enhance or detract from our high quality of life. We eat the additional cookie, even though we may not even taste it. We skip our evening workout simply because we're tired, although we know the workout will energize us. We slump over keyboards all day with out moving around and stretching out our legs. What's wrong with this?

The issue is that many of us do these things every day - often using the intention of turning over a new leaf. But it is not the resolutions that matter, it's the actions we take every day. It's those extremely destructive actions or inactions, done over time, that are literally killing us gradually more than time. Understand that we have the potential to live a high quality 100 years. But many of us will by no means realize this potential.

The real problem that the 100-Year Way of life tackles is not actually when we die or what we die from, but how we reside and also the choices that we make while we're living. We've all heard a story of a lady or a man who exercised regularly, ate the best foods, goes out for a jog one day and drops dead of a heart attack. While this really is certainly sad and shocking, it is also uncommon. Jogging isn't one with the leading causes of death in this nation or any other nation.

This is not a great excuse to continue down a path of self-destruction. Numerous of us justify our poor choices, day in and day out, with stories like this one. We use them as justification for destructive patterns of self-abuse and we use them to develop a situation against ourselves for why we can't change.

Although our parents and grandparents might have passed away from illnesses having a genetic component to them, your parents most likely outlived your grandparents by a great 5, 10, 20, or even 30 years. The important thing to keep in mind is, for most of us, we not only inherited a set of genes, but we inherited a way of thinking and living as well - a way of life. In our generation, for instance, we see a lot of stressed-out parents - "hyper-parents" - struggling to balance work and kids.

Times have changed, but instead of realigning our values, we just paddle harder. Most of us are now in debt and stressed about money. Our unwillingness to change with changing times keeps us in survival and destructive power patterns that take years off of our life, and life from our years.

Think of someone trying to dance to disco even after the music has changed to rap. You'd see a whirlwind of activity, in all of the incorrect directions. This really is what happens when we resist change - the toll it takes on our minds, bodies, and spirits could be very damaging. This leads to a 60-, 70- or 80-Year Lifestyle versus the active, healthy 100-Year Lifestyle we deserve.

The average life expectancy for males, currently, is just 74 or 75 years. The average life expectancy for ladies, currently, is just 79 or 80 years. Average indicates that some people are living much longer, and some people are dying much younger. Where will you fall? What will your high quality of life be along the way? The well being choices you make today will absolutely influence your quality of life now and in the future.

You're created to thrive under changing circumstances. But you must first listen to your body's innate wisdom. You must learn self-trust - a vital component with the 100-Year Way of life. Right after all, life is a series of transitions, and also the one you are about to go on - embracing the reality of your possible longevity - can be the most exciting time of your life. Confront the unknown using the understanding that on the other side of letting go is a tremendous feeling of freedom, youthfulness, and renewal. This is exactly where you'll thrive.
