Spring water speeds up weight loss

Most municipal water supplies use chemicals, some of which are added intentionally and some just wind up tainting the supply through pollution and inappropriate disposal methods. For instance, medications are often found in municipal water supplies because people flush their unused pills down the toilet. I worry enough about taking prescription drugs that have been prescribed for me, and worry even more about taking medicines of which I am unaware. In addition to the unwanted chemicals in our water, many municipalities actually add some intentionally, such as chlorine and fluoride among others. Chlorine is a poisonous gas and can combine with other elements in the water to form carcinogenic compounds.

Fluoride in the water really does not help our teeth or bones, as it is not in the right form. Fluoride is found in certain plants and, from plant sources (like green tea), the fluoride seems to be effective and safe. Fluoride added to the water supply is man-made and is a byproduct of industrial manufacturing aluminum or fertilizer; in this form it can cause cancer, weaken bones, and impair fertility. In my view, it should be regarded as a hazardous material and disposed of properly, not fed to the unknowing public.

Think about how many products you consume that are made with fluoridated water: soups, juices, beer, wine, baby formula, bread, cakes, even processed cereals are made with municipal water. So unless it has gone through a reverse-osmosis filter, it probably contains fluoride. We can tolerate most things in moderation, but fluoride is now in so many products that we have all over-dosed on it. For this reason, spring water is best.

The only way to get fluoride out of the water is through reverse-osmosis, which is costly and wasteful, plus it robs the water of its trace minerals. So the best thing would be if our governments just stopped adding it to everyone's water. To all the mayors and governors reading this, please stop fluoridating the public's water supply. Thank you.

And please do not use a new, plastic water bottle each time you want to take a drink. The environmental impact is ridiculous and, in addition, toxic dioxins can leech out of those bottles, into the water, and then build up in us. To learn about the frightening dangers of dioxins, read Our Stolen Future by Theo Colborn, Dianne Numanoski, and John Peter Meyers. Please use and re-use either glass or stainless steel containers for your water.

Soft drinks are aptly named because they will make you soft, as not only will the high doses of sugar contribute to your fat, but also the carbonation actually robs your bones of calcium. In addition, soft drinks contain numerous artificial chemicals. One of my general rules when checking labels is: was an ingredient in my grandmother's cabinet? If so, then it is probably OK. But if I have no idea what an ingredient is or where it came from, I find it is usually suspect.

Next time you see one, take a look at the ingredients in Diet Coke. I believe that if this drink were a drug, then it would be banned by the FDA (assuming the FDA was really working on behalf of public safety). If you really would like a cola now and then, that's fine, but you should get a REAL cola. Whole Foods and other healthfood stores carry brands that only use carbonated filtered water, pure cane sugar, cola beans, and sea salt. I wouldn't drink them too often because they are sweet (sticky) and most often served very cold. Natural root beer and lemon-lime drinks are OK too, but make sure they do not contain synthetic sweeteners.
