The iPad can also carry around a copy of the identical personal contact list that you retain on your computer. Even just having the email addresses of everyone you realize is handy to possess around when you're relaxing in the backyard hammock catching up on your Inbox.

Through iTunes, you can grab contacts from the number of popular programs, including Microsoft Outlook 2003 and later, Windows Address Book, Outlook Express, and Windows Contacts. Make your choices, click the Appy button, and then Sync to maneuver your life farther onto the iPad.

Sync Podcasts

One of the coolest features of the iTunes Store is the Podcasts area. Podcasts are like radio and Television shows you can download on a regular basis - for free. Every major media outlet has some sort of audio or video podcast available now alongside more low-budget creations.

You can get the whole video from each week's edition of Meet the Press from NBC, Slate magazine's audio critique of released movies, or your favorite shows from National Public Radio. To register for podcasts, click the Podcasts link on the main iTunes Store page, and study until you find something you like. Then click Subscribe.

Once you subscribe to a show, iTunes automatically deposits the latest episode of it to your computer the moment it appears online. Since you may not want to fill up your iPad with tons of podscasts, you can tell iTunes those to copy over each time you sync up. Using the iPad connected, click the Podcasts tab and turn on the checkboxes for that shows you want to sync regularly. Make use of the pop-up menus to get the number of episodes you want to take with you for each podcast as well. Click Apply and Sync.
